hey guys!
for the past few months I've been really cutting back on spending because I'm saving up for a trip, but of course my fashion cravings never cut back, so I've been getting really into those sites like Ideeli and HauteLook which sell really high quality brand/designer name clothes for seriously so much less. I thought I'd share them with you because they're great for get cute clothes on a budget. Sometimes there are BCBG tops for like $10!

Whether, it's the pop on the lips or the lids, bright strong colors were in to help compliment the garments. It's interesting to notice that no matter what, one feature was bright while the others were nude or even bare. Which look's your favorite?

balmain spring/summer 2011 rtw

Balmain for this spring showed a surprising yet charming repertoire in Paris last fall. Staying true to the edgy rocker theme, distressed leather and intense pops of color were the norm. The collection was diverse, although it presented a similar corset-on-cropped-skinny-jeans throughout the show. Despite a seemingly normal silhouette, I think its safe to say Balmain strayed from the norm with this spring collection, going hard rock while other designers went lyrically acoustic.

I wanted to try something new. Lately I've been thinking about style and the way it fits into our everyday lives. And so, I present this challenge for you. Oh House of McQueen, what will you think of next? Although he himself has passed, his love for the unexpected and whimsical lives on. I thought I'd do a beauty post because this eccentric style really caught my eye. The two-toned basket weave braid is intricate but still has the natural earthiness that I think really pulls the collection together in a cohesive way that wouldn't otherwise exist. However, I think "ready to wear" is a stretch. Let me know what you think!

Let me preface this post by saying I have been a huge fan of Erdem since his first show in 2007 and have actually followed his progress very closely since. I'm so pleased with the prominence he has gained because he is extremely talented. That being said, I'm on the fence with this collection. I love the colors, but as for design I really see nothing new in this collection that builds off his previous success. Let me know what you think! It really reminds me of an English tea party in the garden, sort of like in Alice In Wonderland.

The weight of the fabrics make the collection slouchy, but their apparent flow is reminiscent of ocean waves. The laid-back nature and effortless attitude of this collection gives this spring/summer a beachy-meets-woodsy feel. I love the contrast in textures as well as the use of neutrals that's anything but boring.

I'm stuck in February and this collection has me desperately searching for a nice beachy escape. I also love the relaxed feel there is because the models are wearing sandals as opposed to the go-to stilettos.

Elie Saab has always been one of my favorites. His aesthetic is comprehensive and always palatable. This spring, Elie is defining fashion with his contrast of strength and flow, metal with soft fabrics, and a young yet neutral color palette.

I noted the higher necklines that result in the leggier look, and I love the metallic notes he incorporated into every look.

Here's Natasha Poly pulling off men's wear, straight from the pages of July 2008's issue of Vogue Russia. I think the styling is fantastic.

The look is very structured and tailored (and just a bit black-tie event), but with girly accents.

I think stylist Charles Manning did an excellent job with this. Basically, the title's spot-on.

yes, yes. Fall. Maybe a little sneek peek? I honestly love this show more than anything right now. The hair pieces, the bright stripes, long cardigans, platform oxfords, and incredibly comfy-looking sweaters.

I also love the round sunglasses, the crown!, and the purses. I also like how the girls are smiling! :)

rodarte spring 2008 rtw

First off, I want to say that I love the stuff Kate and Laura Mulleavy (designers of Rodarte) do, always. However, their designs are really out there for ready-to-wear. The spring show featured an ethereal feel. The garments looked a lot like water, and shimmery pastels were a very prominent theme. Check it out.

I couldn't help but notice the pink extensions peeking out from their ponytails. The dresses' silhouettes are airy and fluffy, very girly and cute-sy. I suppose those aspects of the clothes are "ready to wear" for summer.

I simply fell in love with Miu Miu's Spring Summer 2008 campaign featuring Kirsten Dunst. I never really liked Kirsten in the slightest, but I seriously fancy her in the pictures (probably just for the clothes?)

Turns out the answer is yes. A few days ago I was watching Canada's Fashion Television, and briefly mentioned his inspirations for his Pre-Fall 2008 show. Along with Miss Amy, his inspirations were also said to be London (in contrast to last year's focus of Paris) and the men that inspired Coco Chanel herself. So I guess that explains that.

In fact, it wasn't just Karl who was inspired by Amy's style. In February 2008's edition of Vogue Paris, there was an entire spread dedicated to Amy Winehouse.

Model Isabeli Fontana looks a bit too unnatural with that cig between her fingers to be playing Amy. The entire shoot looked a bit forced.

I know its a tad early, but I simply cannot contain myself! Since winter has been nothing but dull dull dull in every sense for me thus far, I can't help but discuss Spring 2008! I love seeing bows on the runways of John Galliano and Chanel (heck, the entire thing was wrapped up in one great big bow! Watch the video(s) on the sidebar), because I've simply adored them since baby-doll style made that sweet but brief comeback.

Above are shots from John Galliano's Spring 2008 (RTW) show. Also, notice even on his finest dresses, he put a cardigan on and brought it to a whole new level of chic! Yes, and of course the cardigan is back for another season. I simply couldn't survive without the functionality of a cute sweater to keep me warm; I'm cold a lot. John's designs for both Dior Resort 2008 and Spring 2008 RTW are bold and amazing; but for very different reasons. The Resort collection was bright, colorful, and ornate (as it should be), while the Spring 2008 collection was contrasting black and white, a more subdued display. It was a very different take on spring than the theatrical show he made in his self-named collection. Pearls and frost for Dior, but candy and apples for JG. What can I say? He's a man of many talents.

Thats right. Erdem Moralioglu is a new designer whose designs debuted on the major catwalk in Fall 2006. His designs have been brilliant since the beginning, but I'm especially attatched to his Spring 2007 RTW line. He used lace, feathers, and just a touch of floral to complete his ultra-feminine look.

Keira Knightly wore the second dress above.

kate moss showed up at a red carpet event in this fabulous flapper-like number, with cute mary janes to match her Great Gatsby-inspired outfit.

I love the beaded detailing!

Also, Adrian Grenier and Jessica Stam stop for the cameras.

I must say, I think Adrian takes the better dressed award, although Jessica's boots are quite stunning.

What do i see? Coco Rocha's hair transformed into an Amy Winehouse-reminiscent masterpiece? On the other hand, that hair piece is quite chic. thoughts? Chanel's lines have become odder and odder. Firstly, there's the Spring 2008 show with denim galore and only leads me to think of one word: "patriotism," anyone? Almost every garment seemed embelished with blue stars and red stripes with white accents, glitter here and there. Or perhaps Karl's simply digging into the pop culture? What with his rehab-inspired ankle purses; danger-turned-fashionable vibe is what im getting. Check it out yourself.

I see Karl moving into more Marc's grunge territory. Not that Marc minds, I'm sure. I've noted that he's been doing more tailored garments. I also noticed that Karl's making these models dress more like him. Blacks and dark colors, fingerless gloves, and that oddly awesome collar thing he always seems to be wearing. Every female model that graced the runway for the Pre-Fall show displayed their A.W. 'do with pride (with the exception of Agyness Deyn, Portia Freeman, and Freja Beha Erichsen; whose hair looked simply fabulous, I must add). In fact, I must admit, at first I was hesitant to say so, but I really love the hair. Oh, I'm such a sucker for Karl. But aren't we all?
